Dr. De Caterina is Professor and Director of the Institute of Cardiology at the "G. d’Annunzio" University in Chieti, Italy. He splits his time equally between research and the clinic. Dr. De Caterina’s research is focused in thrombosis and atherosclerosis, with a recent emphasis on nutrigenetics and nutrigenomics.
Dr. De Caterina also serves as President of the International Society on Nutrigenetics/Nutrigenomics and President of the Working Group on Atherosclerosis, Thrombosis and Vascular Biology of the Italian Federation of Cardiology. He has served as Vice-President of the European Society of Cardiology, in which he was Chair of the Council of Basic Cardiovascular Science and the Working Group on Thrombosis. He also served as a member of the ESC Committee for Practice Guidelines and the Congress Programme Committee.
